Aviation firm, 748 Air Services launches flights to Mombasa and Ukunda today, as celebrations for Madaraka day get underway.
On 20th May this year, the Charter Airline company initiated direct daily flights to Kisumu.
Cabinet Secretary for Sports, Heritage and Culture, Amb. Dr. Amina Mohamed and Kisumu County Governor, Prof. Anyang’Nyongó officiated the event.
The introduction of the new routes is part of the airline’s network expansion plans to allow it to play a significant role in supporting growth of domestic tourism market and boosting Kenya’s local economy already hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the aviation industry due to travel restrictions and a slump in demand among travellers.
748 Air Services, like many airlines have suffered losses during the pandemic. However, the airline used it as an opportunity to expand to commercial flights along humanitarian charters.
The organization intends to expand charters to other cities like Eldoret, Malindi, and Lamu in the near future. #s63
